Armstrong and Boulton take prestigious awards

GB Rowing Team Lead Coach for Juniors, Richard Boulton, has won the prestigious Performance-Development Coach of the Year Award which was presented at the UK Coaching Awards Dinner in London last night.

Boulton, who has coached crews to junior gold at three of the last four World Rowing Junior Championships, was nominated for his exceptional coaching and leadership of the programme for GB juniors.

Boulton, a former junior international himself, was Rowing Master at Hampton School for a number of years and joined the GB Rowing Team as coach of juniors in 2005.  Boulton pipped candidates from swimming and rugby to the top award.

Lead Adaptive Coach, Tom Dyson, also reached the top three nominations for Young Coach of the Year in the under 25 category for his work with the successful GB Paralympic Programme over the past two seasons.

On a successful night for rowing, Brian Armstrong, former British Rowing International Manager and coach, won a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 40 years of coaching and contribution to the sport of rowing.
