Environment Agency – Enjoying Water

From the Environment Agency (EA):

The demand for water-related sport and recreation in England and Wales outstrips supply but creating more recreational opportunities on rivers and coastal waters is full of challenges.  The Environment Agency is heading a project to assess and shape provision in the South East and is committed to putting the environment at the heart of future plans to develop water-related sport and leisure.

Brighton University are acting as the project consultants and as part of the work there will be a series of workshops during January 2010 to gather views.  They are also inviting all those with a keen interest in watersports to have their say early next year by logging on to to comment on the views and issues from the workshops.

We would encourage rowers and supporters to respond and it would be helpful if you could copy to British Rowing so that we can produce a governing body response that reflects your views.

The Enjoying Water project will help decision makers to take an informed view on sport and leisure development and assess how facilities built for the London Olympics can benefit us all long after the games are over.
