It takes place in a high-octane environment with races going on throughout the day where competitors race up to 2,000m in the quickest possible time, and it provides a stage for indoor rowing enthusiasts to test themselves on a national level and assess their own performance and progress. This year they used the event to raise money for help for heroes as indoor rowing equipment is used heavily at Headley Court. This year saw new faces taking part in the AS, TA and LTA Men’s and Women’s categories racing over 1000 and 2000 metres. Caroline McDonald (Tees) returned from injury to win a gold medal in the Women’s AS category with a time of 4.49, Sam Scowen (Dorney) came away with a gold medal and Sophie Brown (Sudbury) a silver medal with a time of 5.08 in the Women’s TA category. Naomi Riches (Marlow) won a gold medal, Pam Relph (Birmingham Uni) took silver with a time of 7.57, whilst Samantha Frost (Bedford) claimed a bronze medal in a time of 8.35 in the Women’s LTA category. Conrad Tokarczyk (Ruislip) won a gold medal in the Mens TA category with a time of 4.23 and Gus Mckenchie (Coal Porters), who has been busy fundraising entering events such as The Chicago Marathon, The Great South Run, The International Friendship Run and the New York Marathon, still managed to scoop gold in the Mens LTA category with a time of 8.33.
