Hired! Director of Membership and Rowing Community

British Rowing is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Hornsey as the Director of Membership and Rowing Community, effective from October 2015.


Phil joins British Rowing from digital services provider EE, where he is currently Head of Digital Content and Customer Experience.

Phil has more than 15 years’ experience in executive management at some of the UK’s leading companies. His experience has focussed on acquiring and retaining customers in mature, segmented markets, establishing customer needs and using that insight to drive loyalty and growth. His current role at EE has seen him responsible for defining, owning and leading the company’s customer digital experience strategy. Prior to that, Phil worked for O2 as Head of Channel Content where he delivered the company’s first multi-channel content strategy.

Phil is also a keen rower, having been a member of Reading Rowing Club’s senior men’s squad for the last four years.

Phil Hornsey said: “I’m delighted and privileged to be taking on a new challenge with British Rowing at such a key time for the sport and the organisation, and looking forward to using my background in business – as well as my recent experiences as a rower – to engage and support our members, grow our relationships with clubs, schools and universities and to increase participation at every level of our fantastic sport.”
