“It’s exciting to be part of rowing at this time when it feels like something completely different is about to happen and be at the start of the sport as it’s growing!”

Robyn Hart-Winks (2019 WRBSF Silver Medalist)

Beach Sprints is rowing – but not as you know it. An exciting, fast-rowing format of the sport, Sprints combines running, racing, navigation and power on a field of play where anything can happen. Your ability to adapt to an ever-changing landscape of competition will be tested alongside your physical abilities, and it’s all over in a matter of minutes.

At this moment in time, Beach Sprints offers a unique opportunity to compete internationally. Just named a sport for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and on the cards to be named for Los Angeles 2028, there has never been a better chance to get in, learn fast and progress onto representing your country at the highest level.

Last year the GB Beach Sprint team won five medals at the World Finals in Wales, two medals at the European Championships in Spain and the Home Nations collectively brought seven medals back from the Commonwealth Regatta in Africa last month. All teams were made up of rowers from a mix of river and coastal backgrounds, the majority of whom had only tried the format for the first time that season.

We’re looking for rowers who want to experience a brand-new side of the sport to trial for the team. Potential events on the calendar include the World Beach Games in Bali. There will be opportunities to row for Wales, Scotland, England and GB as a whole, and trialling kicks off in June – open to both senior rowers and U19s.

Between February and May, we will be running a series of opportunities across the UK to try out the Beach Sprints format. This will include training sessions for those who have done Sprints before, and taster sessions for those completely new to the discipline.

If you’re interested in finding out more information, please register your interest through the form linked above. We can’t wait to see what you can do.
