STAGING Coxed Four into finals - British Rowing

Coxed Four into finals

Great Britain’s coxed four won their repechage  at the World U23 Championships in Hazewinkel, Belgium, today to qualify for Sunday’s final.
They put in a very solid performance to come home three seconds ahead of Italy.  Dave Lyons, a graduate of the ARA’s World Class Start programme, now sponsored
by Siemens, and who is based at the University of
Bath features in this boat.

By contrast the men’s four were involved in a very tough repechage which was won by Belarus and in which Great Britain were squeezed narrowly into third place behind Australia and now contest the B final on Sunday.

The women’s pair will also race a B final on Sunday after coming third today in  their repechage whilst the men’s quadruple scull will be in a C final after a fifth place today.

Britain has further crews racing in tomorrow’s semi-finals. The women’s quadruple scull are already qualified for the final after winning their heat yesterday.
